About Us

Lutheran Child Care Centre, Tampines was set up on 1st September 1988 by Bedok Lutheran Church. Our main goal is to develop children to be confident and creative with a sense of moral value.

Our Philosophy

We respect and value the rights and individuality of each child.

We nurture children in a caring, safe and stimulating environment by providing them with active learning opportunities to develop holistically through play, building on good character to mould them into life long learners.

Our teachers and staff are committed to provide a home-away-from-home service which fosters collaboration and strong bonding between the home and school.

We aim to be an outreach programme which embraces diversity of thoughts and needs that uplifts the community.

Our Vision

To nurture children to be life-long learners with a focus on character building.

Our Mission

To provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment where children are given opportunities to develop holistically.

Our Core Values

  1. We are committed to offer a home-away-from-home service which fosters strong bonding and support among staff, children, families and management.
  2. We respect the rights and individuality of each child.
  3. We value the importance of providing active learning opportunities for children to learn through play, interaction, exploration and decision making.
  4. We aim for an outreach programme which embraces diversity of thoughts and needs that uplifts the community.
  5. We seek to continuously forge a collaborative home-school partnership.

Our Curriculum

We adopt a thematic approach with a programme that is creative, integrated and holistic. It is designed to develop the children in their physical, cognitive, socio-emotional, linguistic, spiritual and creative aspects.

Our core curriculum includes:

  1. Aesthetics and Creative Expression (Visual Arts, Music and Movement)
  2. Environmental Awareness
  3. Language and Literacy (English and Chinese Language, Phonics)
  4. Motor Skills Development (Gross and Fine Motor Skills, Health and Safety)
  5. Numeracy
  6. Self and Social Awareness
  7. Dispositions (Perseverance, Reflectiveness, Appreciation, Inventiveness, Sense of Wonder and Curiosity, Engagement)
  8. K2 Primary School Preparatory Programme in Term 4

Children will learn about life in a primary school, help to set up and play in the dramatic centre depicting a scene in a primary school.

Enrichment Program

We collaborate with external educational centres to conduct optional enrichment programmes in the centre (e.g. John Langhre Thinking Programme, Classic Chinese Fun).

Lutheran Student Care Centre

The Student Care is an extension of our services to our K2 graduands and it also caters to the needs of Primary school children aged 7 to 12 years old. The children are able to discuss their home work with our teachers and receive guidance in the completion of their school assignments. They will also be given assessment books and examination papers for reference to support their academic learning.

At the student care, there will also be:

*Educational and holistic activities involving aesthetics and creative expression, motor skills development and IT based learning

*Character building, inculcation of values such as self discipline, respect for one another, self and social awareness

*Field trips, cookery, day camps during the school holidays
