After my election as bishop of the Lutheran Church in Singapore, one little girl in church asked: “Do you have to walk diagonally now that you are the bishop?” I laughed it off but when I reflected upon that comment, it dawned on me that many people might not know or understand much about the calling and ministry of the bishop! Since then, I had also been asked, “What is your vision?” “What are your plans?” and even, “What does bishop do?”

The Lutheran Church in Singapore (LCS) installed its new bishop, Rev Terry, at a special installation service held on the Sunday afternoon of 24th May 2009.



Rev Terry Kee succeeds Bishop John Tan as the second bishop of the Lutheran Church in Singapore since its formation in 1997. The installation service for the new Bishop and Executive Committee at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer was attended by about 300 people including local mainline denomination church and seminary leaders, representatives of Lutheran churches from the region and missions agencies worldwide.

As with each year the LCS Sisters’ Fellowship organized a one-day Retreat for all LCS Sisters to meet together. By rotation, each year the different churches of LCS will host the retreat. The objective for the Retreat is to have programme organized for the LCS Sisters to meet up and fellowship together.

The Mongolia mission was born out of a Macedonian call(call for help) from Rev Puje, whom we supported as a theological student when he came with his family to study at Singapore Bible College from 1998-2002.

Mongolia Mission

Presently, Rev Puje is the only ordained Lutheran pastor of the Bayariin Meede(Good News) Churches in Ulaanbataar(the capital of Mongolia), Darhan(2nd largest city), Khovd(bordering Kazaktan) and Khuder (bordering Russia). He is also the principal of the Union Bible Theological College, the main seminary in Mongolia. A gifted songwriter and singer, he founded the Mongolian Songwriters Fellowship, which is now producing CDs for worship and praise, with many of these songs being used in the Mongolian churches.

Serve 2009
During my time in SERVE, I learnt many things. I learnt that to be a Christian I have to have a personal relationship with God, by listening to God speaking and not only always just talking to God and asking favors from God without finding out God’s opinion. And I learnt from the Parable of the Sower (Mark 4:1-20) that if we hear the voice of God but rejects it, our hearts will harden, therefore I should spend time conversing with God in prayer.
